Economic cycle peaks in the Netherlands

Hans Stegeman and Allard Bruinshoofd
Economic Research Department

The year 2007 will probably mark the strongest economic growth in the current economic cycle. Economic growth this year was marginally higher than in 2006, but in 2008 growth will ease distinctly. This means that overall the growth profile of this business cycle is considerable less dynamic than that of the previous one. That said, the economic outlook for 2008 remains favourable. The Netherlands will still have solid economic growth of 2¾%, outpacing the rest of Europe.
